Gemstones and jewelry have always been a fascination to me. The fascination was there, as was the desire, to possess, to own, and even to create, something special.
I like to wear jewelry because it is a very personal way of making your own statement about who you are and how you feel.
When I lived in Italy, I attended a show in Rome, where an accomplished artist was selling her hand-crafted jewelry. She was obviously very passionate about gemstones, and her creations were unique and of exceptional quality. In fact, I had never seen jewelry so stunning and so capable of accentuating a woman’s beauty. I realized then that the secret was simple — the artist had only used high quality materials, her designs were simple but elegant, and her creations emphasized the natural beauty of the gemstones. She made the stones speak for themselves. That day, I bought my first piece of elegant jewelry, a simple but lovely necklace of stunning Lapis Lazuli. I have worn that necklace many times and it remains one of my favorite pieces of jewelry.
Years later, during a trip to California, I met up with a friend who had a similar passion for gemstones and jewelry. She had turned her passion into a business, creating elegant necklaces from natural gemstones. She reawakened my passion by showing me how to create my own necklace.
Since then I haven’t looked back!
I did a great deal of research and took workshops on jewelry making, beading, and wire wrapping. I attended gemstone shows and visited lapidary stores to learn more about the stones themselves and find out more about the craft. I discovered that I had a natural talent for it.
On a final note, I am a proud grandmother of the most beautiful little people and a very active tennis player who discovered a passion for creating custom jewelry. I purposely design one-of-a-kind pieces.
